I am a practicing doctor and I haven’t really given any thought about my English skills. In my mind, I don’t really need better communication but better skills in my profession in medicine. People say I am a good surgeon, and I am glad they think so. Even my colleagues think so too and I was contented with that. But an incident happened that made me realized that having better communication skills mean a great deal, even if you think you don’t need it. A patient I have given instructions for a post operative care misunderstood what I told her. She heard the words I have spoken but she missed the meaning. It was a good thing the result of the misunderstanding was not so life threatening but it could have. That experience taught me a lesson: I should not disregard the importance of a good communication. So after that incident, I went online and ask around for what I can do to improve myself, hoping I can find vocabulary software information which hopefully can lead me to improvement.
One of my friends gave me the name of a website of which he had been using too. And I am glad that I found myself in that site because the value of the tips I found there is just immeasurable. Wonderful tips they have and it can really help people who want to improve vocabulary like myself. And personally, I believe I can fully be able to improve if I get a software to help me better and so I did. Now I am enjoying the sense of confidence that comes with the knowledge that I can communicate better and not be misunderstood.
